Red Squirrels have been reintroduced to the island (and the Grey Squirrels eradicated) in a project to provide a safe breeding environment for the Reds. The project has been a huge success with Red Squirrels breeding in all parts of the island, and even recolonising adjacent parts of the mainland.

During the winter of 2019/20 Aberffraw Dunes saw a large influx of Short-eared Owls. Resident raptors such as this Kestrel did not appreciate having their food source pilfered by the Owls and were often seen attacking them.
